Sports & Leisure
New playing fields and sports facilities will be provided at the heart of Kings Warren, just to the east of the Village centre and primary school.
As part of the legal agreement signed when outline planning permission was granted, Crest Nicholson will provide:
- 3 full size, club standard football pitches
- a full size, club standard cricket pitch (with one synthetic wicket)
- a floodlit multi-use games area to accommodate 5-a-side football 6-a-side hockey and 3 tennis courts
- a children’s play area
- a pavilion that includes 8 changing rooms and a social area to accommodate 50 people
The sports pitches will be ready for use in spring 2008. An application for planning permission for the pavilion, children’s play area and car parking will be submitted this summer.
Play Areas
The children’s play area is a NEAP (Neighbourhood Equipped Play Area), the largest type of play area that can be created, and will serve all of Red Lodge and Kings Warren. It will contain play equipment for toddlers to teenagers, split into areas to keep the younger and older children separate, plus a covered shelter to give teenagers a place to meet. Over the summer, in conjunction with Forest Heath District Council, Crest Nicholson will be asking the teenagers of Red Lodge to choose the equipment they would like to see in the “Senior Play Area”. Once planning permission has been granted, the equipment will be assembled and be ready for use in early 2008.
Crest Nicholson will be responsible for maintenance and management of the sports and leisure facilities until they are transferred to Forest Heath District Council some in the future.
