Background

Forest Heath District Council established a Local Plan in 1995 which determines how land in the area should be developed. The Local Plan identified that Red Lodge should be expanded to include new homes, a new primary school, village centre with health and retail facilities and new business opportunities.

The District Council prepared and adopted the Red Lodge Master Plan in 1998 and following pre-consultation with the District and Suffolk County Council, Crest Nicholson submitted an outline planning application in mid-2000 for the part of the land to the east of Warren Road.

Outline planning permission was granted by Forest Heath District Council in June 2003 for 1250 residential dwellings, of which 250 are to be affordable dwellings for residents of the District, 11 hectares of employment/business development land, a primary school, sports complex, local centre and financial support for community facilities such as the Millennium Centre.

It is expected that the entire Kings Warren scheme, including the development of the land east of the site (subject to planning), will be completed by 2013.
